TOT Internet

Last week, we have the internet from TOT installed and I have a chance to try it on last Saturday. Well, they told me that the promotion I got is 3072/512 (down/up) kbps. However, when I actually tried it with the promotional ADSL modem, the connection speed is approx 18xx/512, around 60% of what I have been promised. The test speed with TOT server gave the full 18xx/512. So, it seems that what blocks me is the connection speed of the modem. I will try it again with a better modem next time.

Updated by (acting) bride

It is long time that I didn’t update this Blog. Then, you guy can only see my (acting) groom updated a lot of things that we done few weeks ago. First of all, I need to thank you to all who leave the message to us. Also, to my (acting) groom who made this Blog for us. Now, It is less than one month to our wedding ceremony. Hope everyone that we already invited still remember our wedding date :P. As we choose Chinese Table to banquet you all, we are quite worried about the amount of guests who will join on that day. Hope we can do nearly estimation of table amounts. Maybe I will ask Dae to create the software for estimating the guest amount.

Besides, we just change our mind to have an engagement in Thai style. Originally, we chose Chinese style. The reason why we change the style is Dae’s grandmother offer to do the “พานขันหมาก” for our family. Thus, we think that it is better to have only one style for our engagement.

Internet

I am looking for internet service for my new home at Ratchapruek Rd. Well, the project office told me that they have TOT node right in front of the project entrance. Having heard several rumors about TOT and been using True for years, I first want to try whether my new place falls under True’s wing. I called the call center a few days ago, the promotion is quite promising. For around 900 Baht + one-time ~2000, I would get free TrueVision (the most basic package with just the FreeTV and the demo of true vision channel) plus 300 credit for one new TrueMove number and 3M ADSL. The only catch is that they have to check for a few day whether my house is on their coverage. On Monday saying that my home is out of their reach, what a bad news. So I went to nearest MaxNet booth just to have the same answer which mean that I am stuck with TOT.

Today, I contacted TOT and they said that my villa has a special project where I could get 3M for the price of 590 per month, quite interesting… BUT… of course, there is a catch. They don’t know yet whether I could have that speed. (I don’t know what is the factor.) Anyway, I have to spend 3,585 for the registration fee, noticeably higher than True and MaxNet. I paid it anyway. Let see whether it comes to fruition.

Our Favors

Wedding Favors is another place that we could customize for our wedding. We have seen plethora of souvenir ranging from decorative item such as ceramic figures, photo standings, stylish candle to usable item, e.g., notepads, small treasure box, passbook holder (which I just got one today from my friend’s wedding).

At first, I love the idea of donating a money to some charity and then just give out a small card saying that “instead of giving you some decorative item which you might have problem finding a place to put it to use, we donate our money for that to those in need. May god bless you in your generosity”. In fact, some charity have a small notepad doing just the same thing.

We don’t like the idea of having something that our guest cannot use or might have some problem putting it to some benefit. However, the donating idea seems to simple for us. So we decide to make something useful ourselves.

We decided to make a small traveling soap bottle so that our guest could take it when they go for holidays. Of course, the shower gel must be usable, something that we would use. So we bought liquid shower gel from Boots where Nuch, our good pharmacist friend, works at, and then put it into two 30cc PET bottles and then put them into a small bag. There are several types of shower gel, we picked the cyan one as the main color and matched it with other color. It took few days to finish everything.

Yes, it is much easier if we bought something else from the souvenir shop, but we want to do that ourselves :D

Here are some pictures in the making process.

Flower Decoration

This is another entry about past activity that has not been updated for a long time. It turned out (for several months) ago that our originally interested organizer, SUSHI@HOME, is not available on our wedding date so we turn to yet another interesting one, Mora Flower. Our contact point is K. Bea (คุณบี้) who are quite active about her task. We let Mora be responsible for the decoration of our wedding. They will supply us the flowers and the reception area decoration. They did a detailed proposal for us and I am going to show you some of the example.

This is the picture of the flower on the registration table.

More Photo

I haven’t talked about photo since the last entry about U Smile Photo. To put it simply, we decided to go mainly on our camera-loving friends. We went to Pai and Pang-Ung for outdoor photo. That will be our main photo album. The one from U Smile Photo will be an additional one. We also selected some of our own photo to be supplemental album. We used the service of IQ Lab for album printing.

On April 6th, we also went to Your Studio for additional studio photo. This one is relatively expensive. The price is high comparing to U Smile Photo. The good point is that our wedding make-up artist works at that studio. Having more photo there will let us know her style before the wedding date. The picture from Your Studio will be finally available next week (April 25th) but we have the original photo already. Check it out.

Oh. All in All, I would like to give you some cost we spent on our photos.

  1. U Smile Photo: Approx THB2,500, we got two A3 and all the jpeg files.
  2. IQ Lab: We paid THB1,000 to have 8”x6” album of our own photo (we supply the layout, they just do the printing).
  3. Outdoor photo by our friends: Free!!! not include our traveling expense at Pai * Pang-Ung. The album will be done by P’ Golf, (Bo’s colleague) for a friendship price of THB5,000. Thanks krub!!!
  4. Gallery: We plan to print approx. 100 of our own pictures, using just the standard photo lab @2 baht per picture. Our decorator will do the gallery.
  5. Your Studio: We spent around THB12,000 for 12 studio photo with their wedding gown. Quite expensive.

Installation

Many have been done in the recent weeks. We are so busy that we didn’t have time to update this website. I am trying to bring you up to date as much as possible.

One of the task in the previous week (April 5th) is that the appliances we bought from Home Pro were installed. Additionally, Err+, a good friend of ours, came to the house to install a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim 18,000 BTU air con. Well, we have to remove our curtain to have a space for the air con. Nevertheless, Err+ did a good job in installing it. Thanks for the very good price Err+!!
